Let the Pumpkins Roll!

In 1870, surveyors said “that’s a long view” as they stood on Rock Hill with Mr. O.H. Methvin to map out a new East Texas town, and the rest is history. Now, we’re going to roll some pumpkins down that hill. That’s right, Visit Longview and Downtown Longview TX., invite you to the Longview Great Pumpkin Roll!

Uh, what is a Pumpkin Roll? It’s not the delicious dessert, but it is a really fun event. As Autumn arrives to East Texas, it’s time to roll your pumpkins down the hill for up to $500 in prizes. Prizes will be given for the farthest rolls or hitting targets.

The Longview Great Pumpkin Roll will be held in conjunction with Ollie's Skate Shop Downtown Take Over

  • When: Saturday, October 4, 2025 from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m.
  • Where: Downtown Longview, 420 N. Center Street.
  • Participants: Anyone! Kids, adults, locals, visitors. Just show up on the day of the event.
  • Cost: $2 per roll, pumpkins are not included. Bring your own pumpkin or buy at the event (limited supply available).
  • Longest Roll Prizes:  A grand prize of $500 will be awarded to the longest roll. A $200 prize will be awarded to 2nd longest roll, and a $100 prize to the 3rd longest roll.
  • Midway to Methvin Prize:  Let's face it, only one person can have the longest roll. But, everyone who makes it past the "Midway to Methvin" line will receive a small prize or give away, while supplies last.
  • Hit The Target Prizes:  Hit the bowling pin or other targets on the course for your chance to win prizes.
  • Rules: Read the pumpkin roll rules.

Pumpkin Duel: Shortest Roll Donates

A new fun twist in 2025: the Pumpkin Duel is an optional head-to-head challenge for competitive-natured participants. The challengers agree on a donation amount to benefit Downtown Longview (example: $5, $10, $20 or $100). Each challenger simultaneously rolls their pumpkin. The person with the shortest roll makes the donation, and the winner basks in the joy of victory.  Make a donation here

A limited number of vendor opportunities are available during the event. Vendor booths must be appropriate for the family-friendly nature of the event and must be in keeping with the fall theme.  General exhibitors and general vendors are encouraged to provide a fall or pumpkin related activity, sell fall or pumpkin related products, or have a specific connection to downtown Longview. For 2025, vendor booths are being organized by L. Wilcott Events (LaSeanda Wilcott). To register for a booth space, please follow the link to complete the Pumpkin Roll vendor registration form.
