Two miles north of Jefferson, on Highway 59, sits a beautiful piece of land that is home to more than 80 animals. Alpaca, bison and red deer graze alongside donkeys, camels and wildebeests. 65 acres of terrain insure that the animals have plenty of room to roam and the picturesque pines make for beautiful photographs as you drive through Lonesome Dove Exotic Drive Thru Safari and Petting Zoo.

A large gated entry greets visitors as the country road invites you further into the property. The petting zoo is just to the left and a field of braying donkeys is situated to the right. Just ahead is the wooden office where visitors pay for entry into the drive thru safari. For those wanting a souvenir, branded T-shirts are for sale and buckets of feed are a must if you’re hoping to get up close and personal with some of the more outgoing animals.

Back in the car, eight foot fencing and friendly signs lead the way into the park. Yellow arrows point the way to the exotic animals. The landscape is dotted with fallow deer and the zebra are just around the bend.

Tickets are $12 per adult and $6 per child, with military personnel and first responders discounted at $10 each. Lonesome Dove opens at 10:30 a.m. and close an hour before sunset, seven days a week. Buckets of feed are $4 each. Please confirm current pricing before you go!
